Yoga has hit the mainstream. And as people begin to dip their toes in, many want more of this inner peace thing! Our enthusiasm leads us to look for a next step in opening to deeper awareness.
Meditative breathing, mindful awareness and chanting sacred sounds help us open and live from our hearts. Inspiring music can be a complement to these practices, helping focus our attention and bringing forth expanded awareness.
One of my favorite collaborations has been with Yoga Master Tao Porchon-Lynch, who just turned 99 years old this summer of 2017. Tao was using my first CD, Healing Music for Massage, Meditation and Transformation in her yoga classes. As she was writing her first book, Reflections of the Yogic Journey of Life, she asked me to produce an accompanying CD that underscored her poetry and meditations. Tao has been a special friend for over 30 years, and I love collaborating on our projects.
Meeting Larisa Stow inspired me to want to join her band, Shakti Tribe! Since then, I have traveled around the country performing at Sacred Music and Yoga Festivals with her; including ShaktiFest in Joshua Tree and Holifest (Festival of Colors) in Las Vegas. Larisa’s blend of chanting, Kirtan and progressive rock is inspiring and uplifting. I am looking forward to laying some funky guitar tracks on her new album this month, and collaborating on writing some new songs together!
